This course offers the opportunity to explore the ways in which material culture and art are studied by the two inter-related disciplines of Archaeology and History of Art. Both subjects are interested in the analysis of visual and material culture and the ways in which human societies use objects and spaces to express and negotiate identities, politics and culture.
Field trips to local and national archaeological sites, museums and galleries are an important part of the course.
Our students have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the University’s Archaeological Museum and the Lakeside Arts Centre, or in other local heritage organisations, museums and galleries.
