The Korean Language Course at Sungkyunkwan University is an intensive, level‑based program offered through the Sungkyun Language Institute (Korean Language Center) designed for international learners and overseas Koreans who want to develop solid Korean communication skills, prepare for academic study, or deepen cultural understanding. The regular Korean program places students into levels from beginner (Level 1) to advanced (Level 6) based on a placement test, and features structured instruction in speaking, listening, reading, and writing along with regular cultural activities and field trips to enrich learning. Courses are delivered in multiple sessions throughout the year (six sessions annually, shifting to four longer terms from 2026), with each session typically lasting approximately 8–10 weeks and consisting of intensive weekday classes totaling around 200 hours of instruction — including morning or afternoon class options. Small classes help foster interaction, and the curriculum uses university‑designed textbooks to guide systematic progress through language levels. In addition to the regular course, short‑term (2–3 week) programs combining language study with cultural activities are offered during some terms.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
