Our Department of Korean Language and Literature focuses on the research of the Korean language and its literature through which the lives and minds of Korean people are shaped. The study is largely divided into three areas, Korean linguistics, classical, and modern literature. Modern literature of Korea departed from classical literature at the late 19th Century. We not only share common features of the department of Korean language and literature with other universities, but also have several distinctive characteristics of our own: The atmosphere of cherishing freedom and autonomy, profound interest in society and history, a progressive viewpoint of the world, and solidarity abound at our Department. It is said that students majoring in Korean Language and Literature often have difficulty finding a career after their graduation, but this is no longer a case. The Department of Korean Language and Literature provides students with the joy of learning while at school and meaningful opportunities after graduation. Therefore, we welcome continuous commitments and challenges from students with enthusiasm and an interest in human beings and their language and writings.
