The Microelectronics Science and Engineering program at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in Shenzhen is a 4-year undergraduate Bachelor of Engineering degree offered through SUSTech’s School of Microelectronics, a national-level initiative focused on semiconductor and integrated circuit (IC) technologies. This discipline is inherently interdisciplinary, drawing on physics, materials science, electronics, computer science, and semiconductor device principles to educate students in both the theory and practice of microelectronics — a critical foundation of modern electronic information industries.
The program emphasizes integrated circuit design and manufacturing, semiconductor devices, very-large-scale integration (VLSI), and allied technologies. It is designed to cultivate innovative engineers who not only master theoretical knowledge in semiconductor materials, device physics, and circuit systems but also gain practical skills through hands-on labs, industry collaborations, and project-based learning. SUSTech’s School of Microelectronics maintains close cooperation with leading universities and industry partners in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and Shenzhen’s electronics sector — including opportunities for internships and joint research with major companies.
Graduates are prepared for careers in integrated circuit design, semiconductor manufacturing, testing and packaging, system integration, and high-tech product development, as well as for advanced study or research in cutting-edge areas of microelectronics and electronic information engineering. The program supports China’s strategic goals for semiconductor innovation and the development of next-generation technologies in communications, computing, and intelligent systems.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
