The Bioinformatics program at Nanjing Agricultural University is an interdisciplinary undergraduate/graduate discipline that bridges biology, computer science, data analysis and information technology to address complex biological problems using computational and statistical methods. While bioinformatics at NJAU is often associated with advanced research and graduate-level training, the field focuses on applying high-throughput data analysis, genomics, molecular evolution, biological databases and computational tools to interpret and manage large-scale biological data, particularly in agricultural and life sciences contexts such as crop genomics, gene expression analysis, molecular breeding and systems biology. Students and researchers gain skills in computational biology, algorithm development, biological data mining, software tools and database construction, supported by high-performance computing platforms and interdisciplinary collaborations that integrate artificial intelligence, machine learning and biological insight. Graduates are prepared for careers in bioinformatics analysis, computational genomics, agricultural data science, biotechnology research and related fields where they use informatics to solve real-world biological and genetic challenges.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
