The Master's Degree in Advanced Biotechnology aims to provide Master's graduates with advanced tools and multidisciplinary skills aimed at the design, development and application of innovative biotechnological processes for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, cosmetic, innovative materials and nanotechnology sectors.
The course is taught entirely in English . The first year is aimed at providing fundamental knowledge related to drug discovery and development, fermentation biotechnology and analysis of biotechnological drugs, Green Chemistry and synthesis of bio-conjugates, preclinical drug testing, assays used for the development of bioactive molecules for the treatment of infectious diseases, the cellular and molecular bases associated with tumors and tissue regeneration and, finally, the use of nanomaterials applied to biotechnological and diagnostic drugs.
The second year provides in-depth knowledge on the different “omics” sciences that allow a detailed characterization of the molecular, physiological and pathological processes of complex biological systems, on the bioinformatics and computational approach applied to the study of drugs, on the manufacturing and formulation of biotechnological drugs and on the principles of bioethics, clinical trial design and pharmacovigilance.
