This Program is built upon the discipline of Materials Science and Engineering, which focuses on the fundamental research in materials science and the development of material engineering technologies. It covers diverse fields including synthesis and preparation of polymer materials, structure and properties of polymer materials, special and functional elastomers, high-performance carbon fibers and composites, nanocomposites, metal corrosion and protection, polymer coatings and binders, biomedical materials, functional carbon materials, and advanced energy materials. The research fields hold significant international academic influence and also enjoy a high reputation within the industrial sector. The Program has one academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and jointly operates two national key laboratories with other disciplines: the State Key Laboratory of Organic-Inorganic Composites and the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Resource Engineering. It has established the National Carbon Fiber Engineering Technology Research Center and the National Engineering Research Center for Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Energy Technologies.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
