The Ecology program at Fujian Normal University (福建师范大学) is an academic discipline within the university’s School of Geographical Sciences/Life Sciences that focuses on the study of ecological systems, the interactions among organisms, and the relationships between living organisms and their environments. The program emphasizes both theoretical foundations and practical research skills, covering topics such as ecosystem structure and function, wetland ecology, biodiversity and conservation, animal and plant ecology, landscape ecology, ecological modeling, and responses of ecosystems to environmental change. It integrates classroom learning with field observations, laboratory experiments and spatial analysis techniques, preparing students to address contemporary ecological and environmental challenges. Rooted in research platforms like provincial key laboratories and supported by advanced equipment and field stations, the Ecology program aims to cultivate graduates who are capable of conducting scientific research, environmental management, conservation planning and applied ecological work in academia, government agencies, environmental consultancies and other sectors engaged in sustainability and natural resource stewardship.
