The Cultural Heritage (Cultural Heritage Protection and Archaeology) program at Nanjing Agricultural University is an interdisciplinary undergraduate major that trains students in the study, preservation, documentation and management of cultural heritage and archaeological resources. The curriculum integrates knowledge from history, archaeology, anthropology, conservation science, museology and cultural management to help students understand cultural traditions, material evidence of past societies, and methods for protecting and interpreting heritage sites and artifacts. Students learn archaeological field techniques, heritage documentation and assessment, conservation methods for cultural relics, heritage law and ethics, and digital technologies used in preservation and exhibition. Practical training — including fieldwork at archaeological sites, lab practice and museum collaboration — strengthens research skills and professional capabilities. Graduates are prepared for careers in cultural heritage protection agencies, museums, research institutions, government bodies, cultural tourism enterprises and academic settings, where they contribute to safeguarding and promoting historical and cultural resources for sustainable development and education.
