The Industrial Design program at Nanjing Agricultural University, hosted by the College of Engineering’s newly established Industrial Design Department, is an undergraduate engineering and design major that integrates creative design principles with engineering technology and practical application to prepare students for modern product and equipment design challenges. Established in 2002 and formalized as a department in 2024, the program builds students’ abilities in industrial product conceptualization, human-centered design, aesthetics, materials and manufacturing processes, as well as innovation and problem-solving in the context of agricultural and industrial systems. Through collaboration with industry partners and practical training platforms, students gain hands-on experience in real-world design projects, positioning them for careers in industrial design, smart equipment development, user experience design, product development and related engineering and creative roles in sectors such as intelligent agricultural machinery and advanced manufacturing.
