The Animal Genetics, Breeding and Reproduction program at Nanjing Agricultural University is a four-year undergraduate major that equips students with a deep understanding of genetic principles, breeding technologies and reproductive biology as they apply to livestock, poultry and other economically important animals. The curriculum integrates core life science disciplines — such as molecular genetics, quantitative genetics, reproductive physiology, animal nutrition and developmental biology — with specialized courses and practical training in genetic improvement, breeding design, reproductive technologies (including artificial insemination and embryo transfer), and evaluation of breeding populations. Students gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience through laboratory work, breeding experiments and field practice, preparing them to address real-world challenges in animal production systems. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in animal breeding companies, livestock and poultry production enterprises, research institutions, agricultural extension services, genetic evaluation and reproductive technology centers, where they contribute to improving animal productivity, health, genetic quality and reproductive efficiency in sustainable animal agriculture.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
