The Animal Husbandry program at Nanjing Agricultural University is a four‑year undergraduate major that trains students in the science and practice of raising and managing livestock and other domestic animals for productive, healthy and sustainable animal agriculture. The curriculum integrates foundational knowledge in animal biology, genetics, nutrition, physiology and reproduction with applied training in breeding, feeding systems, animal health, housing and welfare, enabling students to understand how to optimize animal performance, welfare and farm productivity. Students gain hands‑on experience through laboratory work, field practice and farm management exercises that prepare them to assess and improve livestock production systems. Graduates are well‑equipped for careers in animal production management, livestock breeding and improvement, farm operations, agricultural extension services, livestock consulting and related research roles in enterprises, government agencies and research institutions, contributing to the efficient, ethical and sustainable development of animal agricultural industries.
