The Aquaculture (also called Aquaculture Science or Fishery Science) program at Nanjing Agricultural University is a core agricultural discipline hosted through its Wuxi Fisheries College under the College of Animal Science and Technology, focusing on the biology, technology and management of aquatic organisms and systems. It covers the breeding, cultivation, nutrition, health and environmental management of fish and other aquatic animals, combining fundamental biological sciences with applied aquaculture techniques to address challenges in sustainable aquatic food production and resource use. The curriculum includes traditional and modern topics such as aquatic animal genetics and breeding, water quality and pond ecology, nutrition and feed technology, disease prevention and control, and fishery economics and management, blending classroom study with hands-on laboratory and field experience. Graduates are prepared for professional roles in aquaculture production, aquatic health and nutrition, fisheries management, research and technical services, as well as opportunities for further study and international collaboration, reflecting the university’s strong research and global partnerships in aquaculture and inland fisheries science.
