The Genetics program at Nanjing Agricultural University is a four-year undergraduate major that provides students with a solid foundation in the principles and applications of heredity, variation and molecular biology. The curriculum integrates core biological sciences such as molecular genetics, classical genetics, population genetics, genetic engineering and genomics with practical laboratory training, enabling students to understand how genes function, how traits are inherited, and how genetic technologies can be applied to improve plants, animals and microorganisms. Students gain hands-on experience in techniques like DNA analysis, gene expression studies and genetic mapping, and they learn to apply analytical and experimental methods to real-world biological and agricultural challenges. Graduates are prepared for careers in biotechnology, breeding and genetic improvement programs, research institutions, pharmaceutical and agricultural industries, and environmental or health-related fields, as well as for further graduate study in genetics, molecular biology and related life sciences, where they contribute to scientific innovation and sustainable development.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
