The Tourism Management program at Nanjing Agricultural University is an applied business and social science discipline that prepares students for careers in the tourism, hospitality and cultural services sectors. The curriculum combines foundational knowledge in tourism economics, hospitality management, travel market analysis, service marketing, cultural tourism, and destination planning with practical skills in customer service, event coordination, tourism policy and sustainable tourism development. Students learn to understand tourist behavior, design attractive travel products, manage tourism businesses, and promote destinations effectively—especially within rural and agricultural tourism contexts that leverage China’s cultural and natural resources. Emphasizing both theoretical learning and real-world experience, the program includes case studies, fieldwork, internships and service projects that build competencies in communication, problem-solving and strategic planning. Graduates are prepared for careers in tourism enterprises, hotel and resort management, travel agencies, cultural and heritage sites, government tourism departments, and tourism consulting, and are equipped to contribute to sustainable and innovative tourism development in domestic and international markets.
