Control Science and Engineering at Nanjing Tech University is an engineering discipline that focuses on the analysis, design, modelling and optimisation of dynamic systems to achieve desired behaviour, stability and performance across engineering applications. It integrates core theoretical foundations from control theory, systems theory, signal processing and automation with practical techniques in feedback control, robust and adaptive control, intelligent control, optimisation, estimation and system implementation. The programme equips students with skills to model complex physical, mechanical, electrical and industrial processes, design controllers for stability and performance, analyse system responses, and implement real-world control solutions using modern tools and technologies. Through coursework, laboratory experiments and project-based research, students gain hands-on experience in embedded control systems, robotics, automation platforms and industrial control applications, preparing them for careers in automation, robotics, aerospace, manufacturing, energy systems and intelligent systems design, as well as further research in academia or industry. The discipline also promotes interdisciplinary collaboration with computer science, mechanical engineering, electronics and other fields to address emerging technological challenges.
