Industrial Catalysis at Nanjing Tech University is a specialised science and engineering discipline focused on the design, development and application of catalysts and catalytic processes that accelerate chemical reactions in industrial systems while improving efficiency, selectivity and sustainability. The programme integrates core principles from chemical engineering, materials science, surface chemistry and reaction kinetics to understand how catalysts work at molecular and nano-scale levels, how reaction pathways can be optimised, and how catalytic technologies are applied in large-scale chemical production. Research and training cover areas such as heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis, catalyst synthesis and characterisation, reaction engineering, process intensification and environmental catalysis, with emphasis on innovative solutions for energy conversion, pollution control, green chemical processes and fine chemicals manufacturing. Students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills through coursework, laboratory experiments and research projects, preparing them for careers in chemical process design, catalyst development, energy and petrochemical industries, environmental technology and advanced materials research.
