New Energy Science and Engineering at Nanjing Tech University is an interdisciplinary and forward-looking engineering discipline that focuses on the development, conversion, storage and efficient utilization of new and renewable energy resources to support sustainable development and address global energy challenges. The program integrates principles from energy science, materials science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and environmental engineering to study advanced energy technologies such as solar and wind energy systems, energy storage (batteries, supercapacitors), hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, smart grids, and energy-efficient systems. Students gain strong theoretical foundations in thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, electrochemistry, power systems and control technologies, alongside practical experience with energy conversion devices, experimental platforms and simulation tools. Emphasis is placed on innovation in clean and low-carbon energy solutions, optimization of energy systems, and interdisciplinary research that bridges fundamental science with engineering practice. Graduates are well prepared for careers in renewable energy research and development, energy system design, sustainable engineering consulting, and energy policy and management in both industry and academia.
