Medical Physics and Biomedical Instrumentation
The specialization Medical Physics and Biomedical Instrumentation focuses on the core area of the present-day health technology industry developing medical devices and also the core knowledge needed by people working as medical physicists at hospitals. It covers the areas of well-being and medical solutions from consumer health products such as heart rate monitors and other wearable sensors to clinical applications such as anesthesia monitors, imaging and treatment delivery systems. The specialization provides expertise in the design of complex biomedical instrumentation and understanding the physics behind various medical imaging modalities. This specialization has two paths: Biomedical Instrumentation, focusing more on design and the development of instrumentation, and Medical Physics, focusing on the theoretical physics background needed by medical physicists.
