PhD students taking part in the 4-year full-time programme of the Doctoral School are required to obtain a total of 240 credit points.

Of these credits, a minimum of 167 are required to be research-related, 64 publication-related and 9 teaching-related points.

Over the duration of the doctoral programme, students are expected to become increasingly self-reliant in their work.

In order to assess the academic and research achievements of prospective PhD degree holders, students are expected to pass a comprehensive exam at the end of the 4th semester of the doctoral programme. This exam concludes the research phase of the doctoral programme and marks the beginning of the “research and dissertation” phase. To take the comprehensive exam, students must have already passed the language exams (in number, type and level) required for the attainment of a PhD degree.

Master's Degree with minimum 60% in a relevant field from a recognised University.

Remarks

In case the student has completed his/her previous level of studies in English, proof can be uploaded about the fact that the language of instruction was English, issued by the institution. If the uploaded document(s) do(es) not meet the above-mentioned requirements, the University relies on an online language interview. Deadline to complete the tuition fee payment: 15 July 2026. Deadline for requests of a full refund: before the enrolment deadline. According to the planned timetable of the 2026/27 academic year, provisionally 28 August 2026. (Finalisation of the date is expected in March 2026.)
