At The University of Kitakyushu, “The Industrial Development of Taiwan” is an English-taught graduate course offered under the International Development Policy specialization in the Graduate School of Social System Studies, in affiliation with the Asian Growth Research Institute (AGI). This course—taught by C. Kishimoto, Ph.D. (Sussex)—aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Taiwan’s economic and industrial evolution, both historically and in its present-day context. Students study how Taiwan’s economy and key industries (such as PC/IT and semiconductors) have developed, examine social and political factors influencing industrial growth, and gain a broader perspective on Asian industrialization. The curriculum also emphasizes case study methods to analyze specific industries or companies, helping students build analytical skills relevant to economic development research and policy studies within East Asia.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
