The Master’s in Frontier Fiber Technology and Science is a two-year graduate programme offered through the Graduate School of Engineering, Industrial Innovation Engineering course at the University of Fukui. This specialised master’s track focuses on developing advanced expertise in fiber science and engineering, enabling students to understand the scientific properties of fibers as core materials and to apply that knowledge to research, development, and innovation in textiles, advanced materials, and related industries. The curriculum integrates fundamental engineering knowledge with specialised courses and research on fiber materials, polymer processing, functional fibres, nanofibers, biomaterials, and interdisciplinary applications such as wearable technologies and high-performance composites. Students work closely with faculty in laboratories, engage in research projects aimed at solving real-world material and engineering problems, and complete a Master’s thesis to demonstrate original work and contribute to the field’s advancement. The programme prepares graduates for careers in industry R&D, material engineering, textile innovation, and related scientific sectors, and develops the adaptability to apply fiber science across diverse technological domains.
NOTE: The university may have additional program-specific eligibility requirements. It is recommended to verify these on the official university website.
