Yamanashi Gakuin School Corporation has been an innovator in education for over 70 years, always looking into the future. It is a private educational organization from kindergarten to graduate school.Founded in 1946, Yamanashi Gakuin was established in the spirit of performing good deeds and with a clear vision that educating youth was essential to rebuilding Japan after the devastation of war. Founders Shinichi and Kiyoko Furuya, my grandparents, primarily established the educational institution to serve the youth locally residing in Yamanashi Prefecture. Former President Tadahiko Furuya, my father, successfully boosted the reputation of the school on a national level, attracting students from across Japan and developing a distinguished record in sports, with over 50 Olympians amongst our own alumni as of 2018.

Accommodation

We want you to enjoy your stay at iCLA. Comfortable and affordable on-campus student accommodation is available to all students. As both international students and Japanese students reside together in our accommodations, there are plenty of opportunities for building global friendships.

Living spaces within the accommodations are separated between individual rooms and common areas, with several facilities to share like mini kitchen, shower rooms, and toilets. Each floor of the residence halls contains three units, and each of those units comprise of the common facilities and eight private rooms. Residents will also have access to a laundry room at all times of the day.

Our student accommodations are designed so you can find a balance between privacy and social life that best suits your own lifestyle.

Placement

Yamanashi Gakuin University's International College of Liberal Arts (iCLA) supports international student placements through English-language career counseling, dedicated advisors, and diverse internships with major companies like Rakuten, Mizuho Bank, and Kering, leveraging its multicultural environment and small student-faculty ratio for personalized guidance and job opportunities in Japan and globally.

Notes

To reach Yamanashi Gakuin University, fly into Tokyo Haneda (HND) or Narita (NRT) Airport, then take a direct highway bus to Kofu (Yamanashi Gakuin University stop) or a train (Chuo Line to Sakaori Station) for the final walk, with Haneda offering a quicker bus route and both being accessible from Tokyo.

From Haneda Airport (HND):

Bus: The most direct method is the Keikyu Bus to Kofu/Ryuo, with a stop at Yamanashi Gakuin University (approx. 3,500 JPY, 3-4 hrs depending on transfers).
Train/Bus Combo: Take a train to Shinjuku Station, then transfer to the expressway bus or limited express train towards Kofu.

From Narita Airport (NRT):

Train to Tokyo: Take the Narita Express (N'EX) or Keisei Skyliner to Shinjuku or Tokyo Station.
Bus/Train to Kofu: From Shinjuku, take the express bus or JR Chuo Line to Sakaori Station (near the university).

From Shinshu-Matsumoto Airport (MMJ):

This is closer but has fewer direct flights; you'd need ground transport (bus/train) to Kofu, which is about 86km away.
