The Education and Training Center for Dental Health Science was established to provide necessary training for the faculties of dental school and other related fields of oral healthcare.
It also undertakes consistent research to develop dental education system and curricula that suit rapidly changing dentistry, and facilitates the exchange of information among various oral healthcare educational institutes in and out of korea.
Since its foundation, in conjunction with school of Dentistry and the Seoul National University Dental Hospital, the Training Center has been conducting refresher training courses for dentists, lectures for the public. Workshops for professors of dental colleges in Korea, and courses to practice clinical orthodontics and dental implants. As School of Dentistry was transformed into a professional school, the center also undertook the research to improve dental curricula. The center is currently conducting various researches on curricula such as the development of integral subjects that combine clinical dentistry with basic dentistry, the development of elective classes, and the development of the new teaching method, PBL.
In addition, plans are under way to develop refresher training programs for faculties of dental technology / dental hygiene the will help better training of dental technicians and dental hygienists. The center also plans to develop life-long training programs for general practicing dentists on the latest dental materials and techniques.
