By attending UCAM’s courses on-campus, students have the opportunity to live in Spain, specifically in Murcia, where international students are particularly welcomed.
Murcia is a synonym for warmth, hospitality, liveliness, and a safe environment. The soul of Spanish culture is felt around Murcia’s city center with its beautiful squares, historic buildings, museums and university campus. As the capital city of the region, Murcia’s network of services is supported by modern infrastructures makes life easier, safer and more comfortable: for residents and visitors alike - including hospitals, business areas, big shopping malls, sports facilities, etc.
UCAM University receives many foreign students each year. The University supports their research for an accommodation. UCAM has, in fact, created a housing database, available to all international students, as well as members of the educational community, to facilitate their search for housing. International Admissions Staff assist them to find the right accommodation to suit their needs.
When talking about location, there are two main options: living in the city center (20 - 30 minutes ride to UCAM, there is a direct bus called “UCAM directo”) or living in one of the two towns nearby the university: “Guadalupe” or “La Nora”, which are at a walking distance from the university.
In both cases the positive aspect for students looking for an accommodation is that, despite the high quality of life offered by the Region of Murcia, the cost of living is not too high. In fact, the cost for a single room in a shared apartment is from 150 euros to 250 euros per month and a studio or apartment prices might rise up to 300-500€ per month, bills excluded.
As an university focusing on internalization, more than 10% of UCAM´s student body is composed of students from outside Spain, from across the five continents. Many of these are studying or carrying out work placements at the University as part of overseas exchanged programs and European schemes, in particular the Erasmus+. This program allows students and recent graduates from within the EU to move to another country within the Union to carry out a work placement in any kind of organization, be it public or private.
We are always open to receiving applications from incoming students and graduates for internships and work placements across the different departments of our University. Students must have some means of financial backing or scholarship as part of their home university or exchange program. UCAM offers vacancies for placements within the following departments: International Marketing, Publicity, Web Desing, Multimedia, Computing, Sports (including in the Research Center for High Perfomance Sport), International Relations, Quality Control, Molecular Pathology and Pharmacogenetics, and Law & European Projects.
All of our offices provide a dynamic, global atmosphere where students will have the opportunity to submerge themselves in Spanish culture within a working enviroment and share unique professional and life experiences with other international students and colleagues. A work placement in one of UCAM´s departments will help students develop their individual aptitude and competencies by stretching them to new limits. developing entrepreneurial abilities, and perfecting a new language. This is an opportunity for students to develop their communication, professional and teamwork skills within an international enviroment in order to build up their CV and put them at a good footing for a future career within any national or international company.
Strategically located in Murcia, Spain, with a Campus of more than 22,000 students and around 1,000 professors, we are expanding worldwide to make one of our main objectives a reality: to promote a high-quality university education, with a representative presence in all continents.
