University West is situated in Trollhattan, Sweden offers a number of degree programs to students. The university boasts about 15,000 students and 625 employees. Sweden has one of the best educational systems in the world or that Swedes are said to be the world’s best non-native English speakers? No wonder more and more international students find their way to Sweden to study on a bachelor’s or master’s programme that is taught in English. In fact, Sweden is one of the most innovative countries in the world, topping the 2019 Innovation Union Scoreboard of the European Commission. University West believes that knowledge is acquired everywhere, not just in the classroom. Integrating work situations into study programs – so-called Work Integrated Learning – exemplifies the important relationship between the university and the outside world. At University West, students experience an open, informal study environment. Usually students and instructors are on a first-name basis. This approach encourages dialogue and collaboration between students and the teaching staff, thus stimulating opportunities for new ideas and innovations. Unlike many other universities, the international programs at University West have a small-scale character. A relatively high teacher-student ratio results in academic staff being easy accessible for answering questions, discussions, and feedback.
